Professor appointed international expert in mining law and natural resources law
Dr. Elizabeth Steyn has been appointed to the Virtual Education Committee of the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (FNREL) for a three‑year term. She will serve as the committee's international expert in mining law and natural resources law.
FNREL is an educational, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the understanding and practice of natural resources and energy law. The Foundation supports legal professionals, academics, and industry leaders through conferences, publications, and virtual programming that address critical developments in the field.
For Steyn, the appointment comes at a time when she is increasingly focused on the delivery of advanced education programs.
“The field of critical minerals law is currently exploding. While The Foundation hosted a Special Institute on the Law and Policy of Critical Minerals last year, I hope to also make cutting-edge developments accessible to practitioners and scholars through the platform,” she said.
Steyn says she is looking forward to helping shape the learning experiences of natural resources, energy, and environmental law practitioners and scholars in North America and beyond.
