Avoid all non-essential international travel says new government advisory

On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, the Government of Canada issued a COVID-19 global travel advisory urging Canadians to avoid all non-essential travel outside of Canada. The public health warning is for all travellers, regardless of their vaccination status. This travel advisory is expected to remain in place until mid-January, when it will be reviewed by the federal government.

UCalgary has evaluated the impact of this new advisory and leadership teams are urging all members of the campus community to avoid non-essential international travel.  All international travel, including conferences, research and student experiences, must be approved by your dean/Senior Leadership Team (SLT) member.

If you are planning to proceed with your travel, please visit the COVID-19 & UCalgary International Travel page to review the new requirements.  Also, please request that your Dean/SLT member provide an email to riskmgmt@ucalgary.ca to indicate approval.

If you are canceling your travel, please email us at riskmgmt@ucalgary.ca and we will remove your registration.

If you have any questions, please contact us at riskmgmt@ucalgary.ca.
