Get ready to "roast something" special! We're inviting you to a behind-the-scenes tour of Canadian Heritage Roasting Company, a successful Alumni Built Business venture sparked by the entrepreneurial spirit of our own alumni.
On this Alumni Field Trip, you'll get to see where the magic happens. Experience the art of coffee roasting first-hand while learning about the intricate process of taking beans to brew. Witness how Canadian Heritage Roasting marries fresh coffee with the urge to explore, and how the owners’ love for wilderness and Alberta's clear skies is infused in every cup. As part of its mission to conserve our wild places, you'll also get to learn about its “1 Million Planted” initiative.
Come for the adventure but leave with a complimentary bag of beans and a whole lot of knowledge!
There are two tours available:
- 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
- 6 to 7 p.m.
This event is now over. Thank you for attending!
Cost

Jamie Parker (he/him)
Co-founder, Canadian Heritage Roasting Company
Jamie Parker, BSc’15, a bold entrepreneur from Calgary, is revolutionizing coffee culture with Canadian Heritage Roasting Company. A kinesiology graduate, Jamie spent four years as a rappel firefighter for the Alberta government. His company's whole bean and Flash Fuel instant coffees are now available in more than 1,200 stores nationwide, including major retailers like Superstore, MEC and Safeway.
Mike Wenzlawe (he/him)
Co-founder, Canadian Heritage Roasting Company
Mike Wenzlawe, a born-and-raised Calgarian, is proud to have built a lifestyle and conservation-focused company obsessed with providing delicious organic coffees while making our wild places even wilder! A 2015 Mount Royal University valedictorian, Mike spent two-an-a-half years of his university career at UCalgary before ultimately graduating with a degree in ecotourism and outdoor leadership from MRU.
The facility is located just outside Calgary’s city limits at Bay 3, 235126 Ryan Rd., Rocky View County, east of 84th Street and 61st Avenue S.E. (see map).
There are tons of free parking stalls in the front of the building and a handful of handicapped stalls.
The facility is wheelchair-accessible on the ground floor, but the mezzanine is not. Approximately 90 per cent of the tour will be conducted on the ground floor as the upper floor is largely storage.
