Wellness Workshops

Learn more about self-image, anxiety and healthier thinking, and learn strategies to improve your mental health and wellness.

Alumni Wellness Workshops

These workshops are offered to UCalgary Alumni throughout the year at no charge. They are held virtually through Zoom in the evenings and will be led by an experienced counsellor.
Register below to view the upcoming workshop dates.

Understanding and Managing Anxiety

This workshop will help you develop a better understanding of anxiousness versus an anxiety disorder. Increase your self-awareness of your reactions to stress and what stress is doing to your body. Learn strategies to manage anxiety in the moment and reduce the impact of stress over the long term.

Healthier Thinking

Healthy thinking is not the same as positive thinking. No one can look at things positively all the time because sometimes bad things happen. This workshop explores the importance of how to think in healthy ways and identify the impacts of our thoughts. Explore how your own thoughts influence your well-being. Learn practical skills to engage in change to pursue healthier thinking.

Self-Image and Your Mental Picture

This workshop looks at the mental picture you have about your body, plus the feelings you have about this picture. We will discuss the struggles we have with the notion of the perfect body. Learn how to improve your self-image and reject the “ideal” body image that influences us.

Assertive Communications

Differentiate between aggressive, passive and assertive actions. Discover why assertiveness is essential for building interpersonal relationships. This workshop helps build your confidence and communication skills. Learn how to act assertively by expressing your feelings and thoughts directly and firmly.

Alumni wellness workshops are only available to UCalgary alumni who have completed a degree program and received their degree. If you’re a current student, please visit Career Services and Personal Development
