About the Speaker

Dr. Dana Olstad, PhD, associate professor at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary
Dr. Dana Olstad is a registered dietitian and an associate professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences. Her research program investigates the impact of policy on socioeconomic inequities in diet quality and health. She is currently leading several randomized controlled trials to examine the impact of healthy food subsidies on the dietary patterns, food insecurity risk, and mental and physical health of adults with low incomes.

Dr. Justine Dowd specializes in behavioural medicine interventions for people with symptoms related to gastrointestinal health issues. She runs evidence-based online programs to help people gain control of their health and wellness and improve their symptom control so they can get back to living well. These programs involve a balanced combination of diet, exercise, self-compassion and knowledge; all of which can drastically improve the quality of life of those living with ongoing gut health issues.
