Alumni Life Lab

A new group coaching experience from the Grow Your Career program

Not sure what you want to do with your life?

Based on the bestselling book, Designing your Life, Alumni Life Lab (ALL) is a three-part, group-coaching workshop focused on leveraging design thinking to help you discover what’s most important and build the life you want.

Lead by a certified Designing Your Life coach, this experiential workshop series will guide you through the process of exploring your own social and personal narratives – both useful and dysfunctional – and learning how to reframe them in your personal and professional life. 

Dates: April 19 & 26, May 3
Time: 6 – 8 p.m.

Important Program Details:

  • Participants are asked to attend all three workshops, complete pre-work prior to each session and arrive prepared to be an active listener, to share openly and learn together.

  • Each workshop will include breakout rooms to collaborate, share and deepen learning. Active participation in all sessions will help create a meaningful experience for all participants.

  • You must have access to a laptop or desktop computer that will allow you to connect to Zoom with a microphone, camera, speaker, trackpad or mouse and keyboard. Please bring a notebook, sticky notes and your preferred writing tools. Snacks and refreshments are welcome and encouraged! 

Meet the Facilitators

Jennifer DeDominicis

Jennifer DeDominicis, BA, MEd

Facilitator

As Director, Alumni Programs & Partnerships at UCalgary, Jennifer has spent her professional career helping people get to where they want to go. A proud UCalgary alumna, she has built a diverse career spanning not-for-profit, start up and twenty years’ experience in post-secondary education. She is an ACC Certified Coach (International Coaching Federation), a Certified Organizational Coach (UBC), a Designing Your Life Certified Coach, and holds a Master of Education in Educational Studies from the University of Alberta. She has worked with clients in higher education, government, finance, publishing, film, performing arts, and climate leadership to re-design ways of working and make sense of complex organizational cultures to realize lasting, transformative change at the individual, group and team level. Outside of work she can be found spending time with her family and taking advantage of Calgary’s fabulous parks and pathways to walk her dogs. 


Carol Wert

Carol Wert, BA, B.Ed.

Co-Facilitator

As Associate Director, Alumni Career Development at UCalgary, Carol Wert oversees career programming that includes career coaching, webinars and workshops, an annual Grow your Career Conference and a university wide mentorship program called Mentor Link.  Carol has been with the University of Calgary for 15 years working with students and alumni to support them in their career development.  As a Certified Career Development Professional and a Certified Training and Development Professional, Carol is inspired by the potential of others and considers herself fortunate to work with individuals to help them achieve their goals and pursue what is meaningful to them.  When not working, Carol loves spending time with her cat and dog and playing in her garden.


Erin Mason

Erin Mason, BPR, CAAP

Co-Facilitator

As Associate Director, Alumni Programs, Erin has spent much of her career in Advancement at the University of Calgary. Through various roles in communications, marketing and now alumni programs, Erin has built innovative experiences for alumni to deepen their engagement with their university and to learn and grow together. She is also the staff advisor of UCalgary’s first student alumni association, the Future Alumni Network, facilitating connections between students and alumni throughout the university journey. Erin is an alumna from Mount Saint Vincent University’s Public Relations program and has her Communications and Advertising Accredited Professional certification from the Institute of Communication Agencies. She participated in Stanford’s Life Design Lab in December 2020 and looks forward to being part of this Alumni Life Lab pilot.
