Join the Calgary Institute for the Humanities for the next installment in its Resident Fellow Lecture series. 

Dr. Christopher G. Framarin's lecture will explore the intriguing tension between renunciation and the good life in the Sanskrit epic, The Mahābhārata. You'll gain a deeper understanding of early South Asian literature and its contemporary relevance, distinguishing between the good life and the moral life.

Dr. Christopher G. Framarin (he/him)

Professor, Department of Religious Studies, University of Calgary

Alongside his research and work as a professor, Dr. Christopher G. Framarin, PhD, is the program co-ordinator of the Philosophy for Everyone program, which encourages students from kindergarten to Grade 8 to develop great thinking skills. He is the author of Hinduism and Environmental Ethics: Law, Literature, and Philosophy (Routledge, 2017) and Desire and Motivation in Indian Philosophy (Routledge, 2009).   

This event is located in Gallery Hall in the Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL) is located at 410 University Ct. N.W., Calgary (see map) on UCalgary’s Main Campus. The Art Parkade is the closest lot to TFDL. Learn more about getting to and parking on campus.
