Join us for a screening of the film Warrior Fathers, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A featuring the film’s director, leading star and UCalgary faculty members. 

Warrior Fathers is the story of a Stoney Nakoda father who searches his upbringing for wisdom on parenting in a colonial world.

  • Doors open: 5 p.m.
  • Movie starts: 5:30 p.m. 

The Q & A will begin immediately following the screening. FREE admission and popcorn! Seating is on a first come, first served basis. 

About the panelists

Chris Hsiung, BSc'99

President, Hidden Story Productions

Chris Hsiung is an engineer turned documentary filmmaker. His company, Hidden Story Productions, is dedicated to using digital media to nurture a more compassionate, just, and intelligent society. His friendships with Indigenous communities have led to several film collaborations including Elder in the Making and Fox Chaser which aired on CBC and won an award for Best Feature Documentary. He executive produced over 30 short films and a 360 projection at the Royal Alberta Museum and recently completed a multimedia Indigenous Cultural Centre in Fort Edmonton which won a THEA Award for Outstanding Heritage Exhibit. Chris continues his work to share meaningful stories through documentaries, animation, museum exhibits, and commercial projects. 

Thomas Snow, BA'14

Director of Special Projects and Operations, Goodstoney First Nation 

Alongside his role at Goodstoney First Nation, Thomas Snow is the CEO of TSCS, an Indigenous-owned firm specializing in governance transformation, strategic facilitation, cultural revitalization, and nation-to-nation engagement. He has held a variety of roles support Indigenous economic development, equity, and cultural awareness. Thomas is the lead character of Warrior Fathers, which follows his journey as a father navigating the complexities of parenting in a colonial world. 

About the moderator

Lonnie Dixon

Lonnie Dixon is a member of the Bearspaw First Nation with community ties to the Tsuut’ina Nation and the Kainai First Nation. Graduating from the University of Calgary in International Indigenous Studies in November 2025, Lonnie is dedicated to advancing Indigenous engagement, cultural protocols, and community collaboration.
