The Power of Collective Philanthropy

Between now and April 25 (Giving Day), you’ll find out in a series of endearing videos and ads that will invite you to join our 24-hour global day of giving. No matter where you are in the world, your support on April 25 will make a difference to the causes that mean the most to you. Whether it’s a student scholarship or groundbreaking research in a specific area, your gift will be matched up to $2,500 (while funds last).

Last April, UCalgary supporters from around the planet came together to raise $950,000 in just 24 hours on the strength of 1,390 gifts from 1,237 donors. This year, we are asking you to think about the causes that make you most proud to be part of the UCalgary community. Your gift can be directed to support students, researchers, entrepreneurs, future leaders and causes that matter most to you. The collective philanthropy of UCalgary alumni, faculty, staff and students impacts everything from one student’s career path, to helping to solve the greatest challenges of our time.

The goal this year: $1 million by midnight, April 25.

There are three easy ways to get involved and help us reach that goal:

GIVE. Make your gift any time between now and April 25. All gifts (up to $2,500) have the opportunity to be matched while funds last. It pays to give early!

SHARE. Spread the word on your social channels by using #UCalgaryGivingDay.

ASK. Encourage friends, classmates and colleagues to make their own impact through giving.

While the work that goes on at UCalgary can be wildly complex and cutting-edge, the actual act of supporting these challenging mysteries can be easy — especially on April 25 (Giving Day), where any and every donation will be tallied up in our 24-hour global marathon of giving.
