Mikayla Fan

Biography

Mikayla Fan is a third year Biomedical Sciences student within the Faculty of Health Sciences. She was born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver. 

As a crisis responder for Kids Help Phone, Mikayla is a strong advocate for mental health. To feed her desire to improve current mental health treatments, she is actively involved in the Psychiatric Pharmacogenetics Lab. Her research examines the interaction between genes and psychiatric medications. 

In her spare time, Mikayla enjoys being active. Mikayla has played tennis at an international level and has represented British Columbia. She is grateful to play on the University of Calgary's tennis team. Mikayla also enjoys running marathons and playing soccer. She shares her love for sport with others by coaching and by leading an adaptive sport program for children with disabilities.
