How to Network like a Pro
Webinar: How to Network like a Pro
Networking is one of the most important skills at which career-changers and job-seekers need to be successful. In fact, 70-80 per cent of jobs are never advertised and are instead found through networking. Recruiters and human resources professionals also use professional networks to fill positions and search for candidates. When you network effectively, you increase your chances of identifying meaningful opportunities and gaining valuable industry insights. If the thought of networking creates fear and uncertainty for you, you are not alone. Networking is really about building relationships and connecting with others. It is an exchange of information and ideas and begins with a common ground or point of interest.
UCalgary alumnus Brian Palmer, BComm’06, is a leadership and career coach with more than 14 years of experience in the consulting and energy industries. He has recruited and coached professionals in engineering, business, geosciences, IT and HR, to name a few skills. In this webinar, Brian explores the ins and outs and dos and don’ts of networking.
