Do you remember the excitement of graduating? This is your chance to recapture that feeling! Join us back on campus and help welcome the Class of 2024 into the UCalgary Alumni community.

Get a dose of nostalgia by returning to the MacEwan Student Centre’s Last Defence Lounge to celebrate the Class of 2024 and network with your alumni peers. You’ll also get the chance to hear an inspiring talk from Shagufta Farheen, BComm’22, a member of the University of Calgary Alumni Association Board of Directors, on embracing change and strengthening community bonds. Enjoy light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages, on us!

Shagufta Farheen (she/her)

Analyst, Goldman Sachs

Shagufta Farheen, BComm’22, is a passionate youth advocate. She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting and was a recipient of the prestigious Chancellor’s Circle Scholarship. Currently, she works as an analyst for Goldman Sachs on its Investment Banking Finance team. During her time at UCalgary, Shagufta served as a youth ambassador for World Vision Canada and formed a campus club to engage students on child-protection issues — particularly the No Child for Sale campaign, which petitioned Canada’s parliament on the use of forced child labour within the supply chains of Canadian businesses. For two years, she represented the Haskayne School of Business with the Students’ Union and was a student-at-large on the UCalgary Senate, in addition to her work launching programs like Haskayne’s First Year Mentorship Program. Today, she resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, and is excited to be the first person to represent the international alumni community as a UCalgary Alumni Association board member.

The Last Defence Lounge (LDL) is a fully licensed restaurant operated by UCalgary’s Graduate Students' Association. It is located on the third floor of the MacEwan Student Centre (MSC 350).
