Prizes awarded to young scientists at youth event on campus
The University of Calgary played host to another great Calgary Youth Science Fair April 15-19. Held at the Olympic Oval for the third consecutive year, the annual citywide event celebrated the work of nearly 1,000 students in grades five to 12. A strong team of 12 finalists from Calgary will be heading to the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Windsor this May. Sujay Nagaraj has been selected to represent Calgary at the Intel International Science Fair in May in Los Angeles.
Chancellor Jim Dinning congratulated all participants on their projects and encouraged them to apply to the University of Calgary when preparing for post-secondary education. This year's best overall project winner was Ankita Saxena, grade 12, for her project, Protein Aggregation States in TBI & AD. Saxena received the top prize of a Chancellor's Club Bursary totaling $2,500.
