Professor to appear before Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration

Professor Gideon Christian will appear as a witness for the study on Differential Outcomes in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada Decisions

Professor Gideon Christian will appear before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration today, as a witness for their research on Differential Outcomes in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada Decisions. The committee's study will examine systemic discrimination that leads to differential outcomes in Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) decisions based on factors such as race and region, examine the factors used to assess the genuineness of a relationship for family sponsorshipsthe allegations of racism and discrimination included in the Pollara Strategic Insights final report on the IRCC Anti-Racism Employee Focus Groups, and; the scope and impact of the use of advanced analytics technology in the application process.

Gideon is appearing in his role as a representative of African Scholars Initiative.
