SWS online offerings
Student Wellness Services (SWS) is offering online support to help you plan for your health and wellbeing, and ultimately, your academic success. Check out the SWS’s workshops, training, groups, and additional information on the SWS website.
Learn new strategies and brush up on your existing ones with these 50-minute workshops designed to help you keep on top of your mental health care. Some of the workshops being held this semester are stress management, self-care, motivation and time management
If you’d like to take a deeper dive into a mental health area, try out a group program. Groups are small, facilitated by a member of the wellness team, and generally meet weekly for four weeks. Group program topics include anxiety management, mindfulness, happiness basics and anger management.
If you’re interested in learning the tools to help others, SWS also offers training in a number of different areas, such as peer support, harm reduction and suicide prevention (Question, Persuade, Refer; QPR). The time commitment for these sessions varies, so be sure to check your schedule.
Peer listeners, who are trained and supported by SWS, offer drop-in hours every weekday. If you are looking for extra support, Student Support Advisors can help you find the right resource for your health and wellness goals. SWS also offers single-session counselling, which is a focused, one-to-one session with a counsellor who can help you plan for better health.
Students who are off-campus can still access resources. There are also a number of other social events where you can connect with others. Check out the schedule of wellness events here. Board game nights, coffee dates and Faith and Spirituality Centre events are happening all semester.
SWS has a resource page devoted to self-help content that is waiting for you to explore. The purpose of these resources is so that you can focus on what really matters to your health and wellness by using them at any time that’s convenient for your schedule. From apps to medical journal articles, there’s sure to be something that resonates with everyone.
