Grow Your Career Conference 2024

Join us for our seventh annual Grow Your Career Conference. Each year, we gather inspiring professionals and thought leaders who have forged unique careers, demonstrated resilience and made an impact in their communities to share their experiences and expertise with the alumni community.  

This year, we have put together a conference program featuring a variety of topics, speakers, career-development professionals and formats so that, no matter who you are, or where you are in your professional journey, you will learn something to help you to launch, advance or re-imagine your career.

Anyone who attends the full in-person conference day on March 2 will be entered to win one of two $300 credits towards a UCalgary Continuing Education course. You can gain a second entry by signing up at the Continuing Education booth.  

Continuing Education offers a wide range of extension seminars, courses and programs to individuals and organizations seeking opportunities for professional development and personal enrichment. Flexible learning. Online and on campus. Programs are designed to fit into the adult learner’s life and busy schedule.

Practice Makes Perfect: Mock Interviews

Interviews can be exciting, but also overwhelming and intimidating. And although you’ve heard the adage “practice makes perfect,” it’s not often that we get the chance to test-run formal job interviews.  This session will allow you to take advantage of a unique opportunity to practise and hone your interviewing skills in a supportive and guided mock interview format. In groups of three, you will be able to take on the roles of interviewer, interviewee and observer while being supported by a career professional.

Mastering Gig and Freelance Work

Are you looking to expand your opportunities to generate income or build your skills and expertise? Whether you are a recent graduate, a seasoned career professional or somewhere in between, you always have the chance to re-think what we traditionally refer to as ‘work’. This ‘how-to’ workshop will provide key information and resources regarding expanding your career or making a job switch to gig and freelance pursuits. Additionally, you will gain knowledge of free career supports in ‘non-traditional’ work that you will be able to access following the session.

UCalgary Downtown Campus is located at 906 8th Avenue S.W.

There are a number of parking options near the Downtown Campus and it is located one block away from the 7th Street C-Train Station. Find information on parking and transportation.
